IBS is characterized by abdominal pain paired with constipation and/or diarrhea. As per research studies, women with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), frequently report chronic pelvic pain. However, it is still not clear if IBS and pelvic pain are truly separate entities. Pelvic physical therapy for IBS can include manual techniques such as; visceral manipulation and internal pelvic floor reeducation, bowel retraining, and relaxation techniques.
