Have you noticed your legs are more swollen at the end of the day? Or do you have a diagnosis that
causes fluid retention? This can affect how often you are up at night to urinate. To decrease
fluid/swelling in the legs, the best position is laying down with your feet above your heart level. This
position is similar to lying in bed. Having your legs above heart level decreases the effects of gravity and
allows your lymphatic system to recycle the fluid into your body. The lymphatic system removes the
fluid which is excreted from the body as urine. If this applies to you, spending 15 minutes 3-4x
throughout the day with your legs elevated can decrease frequency of urination at night.
